A slow day

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Today on an overall clouded and rainy day I finally slowed down and had a very relaxed day cruising the state of New York from the west to the east.

You may have recognized that I wrote cruising and not traveling?

Nearly always when somebody ask me about my vacations the dialog ends up in something like … Nice, interesting! But honestly I would not like to do that much of driving during my vacation like you!

Well, I do not mind driving in general. And driving through a foreign country for me is what I call spying peoples front yard without bothering them. And … thats exactly what I have done today.

Now free in my mind and knowing about there would nothing be really exciting to see today I finally slowed down, by speed as also by mind. Just cruising new piece of this world, a new territory to explore and enjoying what is out there behind the windscreen to see ….

First we traveled the most beautiful farming countryside spotting about every second farm was offering sweet corn or pumpkins to buy. To then later entering the green mountains again. An overall beautiful forest area and most colorful during this very first autumn day of this year for me.

Finally we ended up in the most lovely bed and breakfast I’ve ever seen so far. An old mill operated by an elderly couple. With both people are up in there late seventies and a property, first erected in 1820, you couldn’t construct and design better yourself even when tried.

Yeah! Thats vacation for me …. forgetting about all for a limited time and just cruising life on a day by day basis enjoying whatever this particular new day will come up with for you to enjoy.

Indian Summer

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Indian Summer is what I was always keep to see and at the end the reason why I’m over here at New England actually. So it’s sad that I missed it for about 4 to 5 weeks as I guess. But being part and included into some work schedules there was no other possibility to leave for it later on this year.

Now I’m not really sad about missing it. Actually I’m having a gorgeous time cruising a breath taking scenery even without that famous Indian Summer arrived already and I’m happy about enjoying the perhaps most stable summer conditions this year while being here.

At home summer was all about a constant up and down and a big mix of changing conditions so far. Two days sun followed by three or so days rain and ugly conditions. So there is really nothing I could complain about …

And last … since a while I have made it to my personal behavior to always spare something interesting out, as a reason to come back again doing it then.

So yeah "Indian Summer" with a bit of luck I will see you next then. And now I’m going on enjoying the gorgeous landscape here for a few days more. ;-)

Where is the sun?

I really thought we would have summer?! *** curious look ***

Just since a few days (or is it already weeks) we have a curious mix of clouds, rain, lightnings, sun and rain again. Sure it is good for the plants and I really save up time without the need to wet the garden outside. But really I do miss the bride and shining ‘planet’ above now for some reason. And I even had to grab for a jacket this morning leving the house and feeling cold outside.

Wouldn’t it be time now to make effort establishing some global earth weather control? A few satellites and an impressive computer network sending the rain and water to places which suffer more than us instead?

What a thought and idea …. thinking about me sitting at home with a computer  on my lap hacking into the global weather control and sending rain to someone I’m grumpy with actually! One little cloud targeting a single person all day long. ;-)

You laugh? Thinking I would not do?!  sssshhht ….. you might not believe, but I’m really a very bad and naughty guy…. you know?

It must now be more than 10 years when I had a boss I really couldn’t cope with. An annoying person always happy treating people based on his mood. But it was also at a time when there was still a gorgeous bug within Windows NT 4.0 causing it to crash immediately when you pinged a workstation with a network frame buffer at a size of 65000 bytes ….  You pinged the IP and the station immediately crashed with a bluescreen. Boy that was cool!!

Not not fallen on my head, you can imagine that it was my little revenge crashing his workstation at my pleasure from time to time…. gulp …. Should I have kept this info sealed instead?

Just I still feel forced to smile when I think back to a specific day when I right had pinged his workstation again and said to my co-worker with a smile: Following my inner feeling we will see our boss soon …. and at that second he opened the office door with a very red and angry face ;-)

ps: yeah I know …. I’m bad ……………………………………………. :-|

Isn’t that annoying?

Didn’t I mention that I’m keen to ride my bike?

Like ordered - just not by me - the weather turned colder and rainy here again. Isn’t it that unfair a friend of me living in the southern hemisphere told me recently that he is feeling cold actually too at 18°C and wearing a jumper?!

Anyway, I guess it’s just a matter of a few weeks until we will have stable enough conditions as well then being able to do a longer trip not going the risk to get wet overall …. hmpf …. and in between I just have to keep me busy with different things! :-|
