Rushing through the day

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

After a very very late night yesterday, being invite to a fantastic evening at a Castle - a "Knights dinner" with "authentic" animation - I had a bit of a rough start today. It was intended by the customer as a special thank you for a successful ending of a difficult transition project.

Starting at a hotel and kept as a big secret until the very last second, we headed on to an unknown destination, were we all had a really great evening together. Unfortunately we ended up at the hotel bar and it got nearly 3 am until I finally did fall in bed.

Already four hours later and with an annoying headache (I’m just not used to alcohol) I had to rush for breakfast being aware about I’m already running late for another appointment.

Anyway! I’ve managed to attend "nearly" in time and even I wasn’t anything but prepared I’ve reached my aim.

The rest of the day was a constant rushing though and I guess that the last fellow I’ve had to deal with today - btw a real nerd - will not really have a pleasant memory about our chat.

After a stressful day finally running low with patience, I couldn’t prevent myself telling him about he is an idiot in my eyes. :-|

You’ve got mail

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Recently writing about a movie, I felt forced to smile when I was thinking about the title of my todays posting.

You’ve got mail!

Another one of my favorite movies and another "couple" of my favorite actors for sure ….

But what I’m really talking about,  is some postcard I’ve received recently coming from Japan. Not that I really would know someone there! But finding it in my email box, it needed just seconds to find out about it was sent by a friend actually being there for vacation

Last time I’ve heard from him, he was right back from Madagascar and full of impressions about to share. It is a very special friendship we run after we both hugged up first, back in 1994 during a common trip to China. Since then and for my feeling he must have visited nearly all countries around the globe and whenever I see him, he is right back from one or actually already planning another new trip.

Even his cards are special, like the one I’ve got now: "Actually I’m being at Tokyo for one week, then heading on to see Kyoto. Regards Klaus-Dieter"

Looks like I’ve made a mistake once not going to work for a bank like I could have done - and he did.
Today now he is harvesting and enjoying the benefits out of his decision, while I still have to deal with bits and bugs instead …. :-|

What Women want

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Yesterday I have seen the movie What Women want again. Hey! I’m aware it is a "chick’s flick" and I must have seen it already up to 4 or 5 times. But I really don’t mind seeing it again and I really do it!

I like seeing Mel Gibson as an actor in general and I’m also fascinated by the idea behind the movie itself. Reading the mind of  a woman … What a fascinating idea! Ask yourself about how helpful this would and could be sometimes for you?

Seeing it again, I always forced to smile about seeing Nick’s helpless tries to deal with a grown up 15 years old daughter. Sadly I don’t have one, but given such a sweet daughter I guess I would do everything for her. And last but not least, but ssssssshhht about…..  I adore Helen Hunt in this movie!! Isn’t she a most lovely and beautiful woman and actor?

But now and finally! What did I really want to write about today?!

Have you recognised the Apple Logo on Nick’s notebook in the movie? I have to confess that I’ve never got aware about before. But it is just plainly wrong and odd, shown upside down on this old Apple Powerbooks when opened!

How stupid does that look in movies seeing the well know Apple Logo shown, Faux Pas top down, while other brands and symbols are fine and easy to recognise and read?

Today on actual Macbooks and MacBook PROs this has changed. I guess Apple’s marketing folks got aware about their earlier Faux Pas and turned it later on to appear finally correct in movies and commercials now. Although I couldn’t say it’s much better now …

When I grasp my MBP and try to open it, I’m feeling tempted and cheated to open it from the wrong side irritated by the fact that the Apple on top has to appear wrong to me. Perhaps I should email Apple and tell them my idea about using a hologram instead which would be able to automatically flipping in the direction you need?! ;-)

Technical Challenges

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

It seems to be a fact that I love technical challenges. Give me some problem within an area I’m feeling familiar with and I will be happy about trying to solve it. And if necessary even to carry together the knowledge it needs to figure it out finally.

Have you seen the movie Apollo 13?

Gentlemen!! I do not want to hear about something is intended to use for. In a difference to that I want to know about the best way using it to solve our problem. Failure is not an option!!

Now I’m usually not really challenged by such serious crises. But given such a ‘normal’ challenge or a friend needing a helping hand like today and the little boy in me will always feel keen about discovering the world around and with a bit of luck to hopefully figure it out.

Finally seeing it working at the end … Thats Tops!! my friend. ;-)

A change to the better

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

For my feeling the world had a good and great day yesterday! A real change to the better!!

I guess like all people in world, yesterday I was looking constantly to North America and waiting until the final result was announced. I have to confess that rarely an election has ever got my interest that much before … not even one here.

Once for sure, there was never a president splitting up people that much than the actual one before and I have no real trouble in commiting that I’m counting down the days until he will finally leave the chair.

Speaking about splitting up people, I really do hope that the new Mr. President will be able to bring back people together again.
Once a famous man said: " I have a dream!!"

And so do I … I have the dream that from now on people, regardless their nationality, their color, their opinion and believing will come together again working hand in hand on some improvement and general move forward for the better of ALL again.

I’m aware you don’t know me Mr. Obama. But congrats!! God bless you Mr. President!!
